Fox Glacier is just a short drive from Franz Josef. Here you can also explore the Fox Glacier with a variety of options. As well as walking to the head of the glacier, guided glacier walks are available to take you onto the glacier itself. Half day and full day walks are available as well as helihikes, which combine a scenic helicopter flight with a walk on the glacier. You can also take extended overnight or longer trips for the more adventurous. Scenic helicopter flights with a snow landing at the top of the glacier are also available.
Nearby Fox Glacier, you'll find Lake Matheson, a mirror lake which offers perfect reflections of Mount Cook in its still waters.
