Wanaka on the South Island is a popular destination for skiers, and is also a great holiday destination outside of winter also, with Lake Wanaka a perfect spot to stop for a short while. Over the scenic Crown Range Road, the adventure resort of Queenstown is just 50 minutes drive away.

Lake Wanaka is New Zealand's fourth largest lake where crystal clear blue waters reflect dramatic landscapes and the depths plunge below sea-level.

Lake Wanaka is the gateway to the Mt. Aspiring National Park World Heritage area and is internationally renowned for Mt. Aspiring, the glaciers and its magnificent hiking and climbing.

Wanaka is home to some of the world's most beautiful climbing and hiking country, and possibly the best collection of half-day walks anywhere. This is a beautiful place to be at any time of the year. The rich gold’s and rusty hues of nature's colours in autumn, clear frosty nights with fresh white snow on the mountains in winter, a riot of blossoming colour in spring and long, hot, dry days in summer with the fragrance of country grasses and wild herbs.
