Location Information:
Queenstown is truly New Zealand's adventure playground. There are so many things to see and do in Queenstown that you will be able to find the activity or attraction to suit your interest and needs. The staff at your hotel will be only too please to assist you in deciding what is best for you. Take a jetboat ride on the nearby Shotover or Kawarau Rivers.
There are a wide variety of operators to choose from. You can also test your limits with bungy jumping, with a variety of locations from the original Kawarau Bridge, where it all started to the new Nevis Highwire Bungy, where you jump from a platform suspended high above the valley floor. This new jump, at 134 metres is 3 times the height of the original Kawarau bungy. To add to the adventure menu, there is also white water rafting, helicopter flights and tandem skydiving. You can combine all of these activities with a Queenstown Adventure Combo, which offers you a variety of options and adventure combo packages to choose from.
For more relaxed pastimes, take a cruise on the vintage steamship 'TSS Earnslaw', which plies its way across Lake Wakatipu to the Walter Peak Station, for a first hand experience of a high country farm. Or try horse trekking to explore the nearby countryside. Or a round of golf at the picturesque Kelvin Heights course or the nearby Millbrook Resort.
To get the best views overlooking Queenstown, Lake Wakatipu and the Remarkables mountain range, take a ride on the Skyline Gondola to the top of Bobs Peak. Here you'll be able to take in the views as you dine in the restaurant. Or try your hand at the Luge ride. Here, you'll also be able to tandem parapent, soaring high over Queenstown. No visit to Queenstown is complete without a trip to Milford Sound. Day trips are available which combine a bus tour with a cruise on Milford Sound. You can take an optional return flight from Milford back to Queenstown. In winter, Queenstown is a skiers' and snowboarders' paradise.
Choose from 2 adjacent ski fields - the famous Coronet Peak and the nearby Remarkables. Queenstown celebrates winter in July each year with the Queenstown Winter Festival.
