Rotorua is situated in the central North Island of New Zealand. This flourishing city of over 66,000 people is nestled on the edge of Lake Rotorua, approximately 300 metres above sea level. Rotorua is connected to the north by State Highway 5, to the east by State Highway 33, to the west by State Highway 30, and to the south by State Highway 5.

Rotorua is world famous for the exciting geothermal parks and friendly people. Explore the geothermal areas and discover the unique culture of New Zealand's Maori people. As soon as you arrive you will be greeted by one of Rotorua's most distinctive features, its smell. Mokoia Island is in the centre of Lake Rotorua which is the largest lake in the district. There are several walking tracks on the island, which is rich in native bird life. Dip in the warm mineral waters of Hinemoa’s Pool. Windsurfing, kayaking and trout fishing are favoured pastimes on the lake. Rotorua is the tribal home of the Te Arawa people, who first established villages in the geothermal areas of the city more than 600 years ago. A tradition of guiding visitors around the attractions has been passed from one generation to the next. Cultural experiences, such as Marae stays and an authentic Maori village, are designed to be both entertaining and cultural.
