NZ | North Island Campervan & Motorhome Rental

Campervan and motorhome holidays on New Zealand's North Island provide a fantastic way to explore the island and see all of its tourist attractions without having to worry about the expense of accommodation and eliminate the worry of finding a way to travel about from place to place. There is a wide range of NZ campervan and motorhome vehicles on offer to suit the needs of a family or a couple or even a camper. The North island of NZ has a network of caravan parks and camping grounds to cater for the needs of travelers using campervans and motorhomes as a means of holidaying on the island. There are several major companies that cater for this market. It is essential that you use a well recognized one as you want fast backup if something goes wrong along the way. Most of the major companies have their headquarters in Auckland which is New Zealand's largest city. There is an international airport in Auckland with regular flights from Australia and the USA and the rental companies depots are conveniently located close by. We recommend Britz/ Maui for the huge range they have and Kea Campers and Apollo motorhomes for the quality of their vehicles.

There are many must see destinations on the north island. The best idea is to head north from Auckland first and visit Whangarei and then on to the Bay of Islands which is really spectacular. From there take the road to Cape Reinga which is the islands northern most point and then return to Auckland via the west coast through the mighty Kauri forests and the Kauri museum. Tane Mahuta is the Maori name for the largest kauri tree in NZ and the second largest tree in the world. You will be absolutely awestruck when you stand beneath this ancient forest giant.

After returning to Auckland, head south and out to the Coromandel Peninsular on the east coast. Experience the fantastic oysters and mussels as you drive through spectacular coastal scenery. The Bay of Plenty lies a little further south and from here it is only a short drive to the geothermal regions around Rotorua and Taupo as well as the Waitomo Caves district. The wineries of Hawkes Bay and the art deco town of Napier should be next on your list before travelling on to see Mount Ruapehu and then on to Palmerston North and Wellington. From here you can take your campervan or motorhome to New Zealand’s South island on the ferry that crosses Cook Strait.

A campervan holiday through the North island of New Zealand will be long remembered as one of the best holidays of your life.
