Do I need a special licence to drive the car?
No, all you need is a current and full motor vehicle licence which must be presented when you pick up your Britz Campervan. If your licence is not in an English format, it must be accompanies by a current international driving permit issued in the same country as the driver’s licence was issued. An accredited English translation will be accepted in lieu of an international driving permit.
How old do I need to be to drive the car?
A current and full motor vehicle driver’s licence is required and must be produced upon vehicle collection. Should a foreign licence be in a language other then English it must be accompanied by a current international driving permit issued in the same country as the driver’s licence was issued. An accredited English translation will be accepted in lieu of an international driving permit.
What is the minimum rental duration?
Minimum rental period is three days and rental days are calculated on a 24 hour basis.
One-way rentals from the North Island to the South Islandare subject to a 7 day minimum.
Please note that minimum rental period is subject to change during peak periods.
Can I pick up and drop off a Britz Rental Car at the airport?
The Queenstown branch is located at the airport. They provide free airport transfers for theAuckland and Christchurch branches, which are both very close to the airport.
Do I have to pay for more than one driver?
No you don’t.
What Accident Protection/Insurance Cover Options do you offer?
Your daily rental rates include standard protection, where you leave a NZ$1800 bond, which will be recorded as an imprint against your credit card. You will be responsible for this amount in the event of damage to third party property or to the rented vehicle, including windscreen and tyre damage, towing and recovery costs, theft, fire, break-in or vandalism.
Excess Reduction Option – For NZ$19 per day the excess is reduced to NZ$220, which is held as your security deposit. This amount will be taken as an imprint to your credit card.
No Worries Cover Option – In addition to the Excess Reduction Option, a flat fee of NZ$40 per rental in addition to the excess reduction option and will not have to pay any excess at all for any damage to the vehicle or property of a third party.
All debited bonds (plus any other credit card transactions) are subject to a 1.5% credit card surcharge in addition to the bond amount. This surcharge is refunded when the bond is refunded. If a bond is retained the surcharge is retained.
What happens if I cancel my booking?
There are no cancellation fees for your Britz rental car.
What Credit Cards do you accept?
They accept Visa Card, MasterCard and American Express. Please note, a non-refundable surcharge of 1.5% will apply to all credit card transactions. This includes all debited bonds (plus any other credit card transactions) in addition to the bond amount. This surcharge is refunded when the bond is refunded. If a bond is retained the surcharge is retained.
Do you have any vehicles with automatic transmission?
Yes, all our Rental Cars are automatic tranmission, the exception is the Economy Car which is either manual or automatic transmission.
Can a baby seat be fitted?
A Baby or Booster seat can be fitted in all Britz Rental Cars. They recommend you pre-book baby seat.
Are there any roads I cannot drive on?
The vehicles can be driven on any sealed/bitumen or well-maintained roads. You are not allowed to drive on Skippers Road (Queenstown), Ball Hut Road, (Mt. Cook), Ninety Mile Beach (Northland), North of Colville Township (Coromandel Peninsula) and the Bluff Road that runs between Kuatunu and Mataurangi.
Can I pick-up and drop-off outside of branch opening times?
No, after hours vehicle collection and return is not available. Vehicles must be collected and returned within business hours.
